The Chicago History Museum Store is located on the ground floor of the Chicago History Museum at 1601 N Clark Street, Chicago. We are at the southern end of Lincoln Park, at the intersection of Clark Street and North Avenue.

Member Discount

Members of the Chicago History Museum are entitled to a 10% discount on their purchases. Please include your membership number in the "comments" field on the checkout page to receive your discount. The discount will be calculated and the final charge amount will be confirmed via e-mail.

Tax

Orders placed for shipment within the state of Illinois will be charged 10.25% sales tax. Orders shipped outside Illinois will not be taxed. If you have a state or federal tax exempt number, please use the "comments" field at checkout to fill in the organization’s tax exempt number.


Gift Wrap

We offer gift wrapping at a charge of $3.50 per item. Your gifts will be wrapped in silver paper. Gift messages can be added at no additional cost. Collection Photographs cannot be gift wrapped nor can gift messages be enclosed.


Returns

If an item has been damaged during shipping, or if an incorrect item or gift is received, please e-mail storeassociates@chicagohistory.org within 30 days and we will replace the damaged and/or incorrect item(s) as soon as possible. We will credit your account in full if the item ordered was damaged in shipping or if an incorrect item was shipped in error.

If you would like to return an item ordered and shipped to you for any other reason, the purchase price plus tax (where applicable) will be credited to the original credit card account if returned goods are received within 30 days of their original receipt in original condition.


Shipping

Online Orders

Most online orders are shipped within 3 to 4 days. Collection Photographs are made to order and ship in about 4 weeks via Federal Express. Only orders to P.O. Boxes and international orders will be shipped via USPS First Class Mail. All other orders will be shipped via UPS. If you require a different shipping company please call 312.799.2262 or e-mail storeassociates@chicagohistory.org. You will be notified by e-mail when we fill your order.

Phone Orders

Orders may by placed by phone by calling 312.799.2262 during business hours. Phone orders are usually shipped within 5 to 7 days.

Please note: UPS does not deliver on Saturday or on major holidays. All time-in-transit days refer only to Monday through Friday; packages do not travel via UPS on Saturdays or Sundays or holidays.

Payment

We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express for payment.

Standard UPS Shipping Charges

Shipping charges are calculated by dollar amount, and are automatically added to each order. On rare occasions, shipping costs far exceed (or are less than) the amount automatically charged by our shipping calculator. We will send an e-mail as soon as possible if shipping charges need to be adjusted. If the dollar amount will need to increase we will require a confirmation response before we can ship the order. If the dollar amount is lower, we will inform you but do not require confirmation.

Rush Orders

For orders inside the United States:
  • UPS Second Day: add $30.00 to the rates quoted below
  • UPS Next Day Air: add $50.00 to the rates quoted below
Rush shipping cannot be applied to Collection Photographs and cannot be guaranteed for out of stock merchandise. Customers will be notified as soon as possible if an item ordered is out of stock.

For international orders: We ship via USPS First Class Mail Air Mail Parcel Post to international locations-including Canada. The 'international' option must be chosen for shipment outside the United States. All international orders will be charged $25.00 for shipping and handling. Occasionally shipping charges exceed the listed amount, and we will e-mail you with any additional charges. Any customs charges are the responsibility of the customer, and are not included in the shipping charge. We cannot ship some items to international locations and you will be notified by e-mail if we cannot ship your item to the address specified. If postal codes do not match indicated address the order cannot be shipped. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail us at storeassociates@chicagohistory.org.

Mission Statement

The Museum Store serves as an extension of the Chicago History Museum by encouraging the learning and understanding of history by enhancing the appreciation and enjoyment of history through merchandising and retail events related to United States and Chicago history.

The Museum Store also serves to increase the visibility of the Chicago History Museum’s collection through the sale and distribution of products reproduced and adapted from and/or inspired by that collection.

The Chicago History Museum is a privately endowed, independent institution devoted to collecting, interpreting, and presenting the rich multicultural history of Chicago and Illinois as well as selected areas of American history, to the public through exhibitions, programs, research collections, and publications

The Chicago History Museum collects, exhibits, and interprets documents, images, and artifacts related to the history of the United States and metropolitan Chicago. Its mission is to expand audiences for history, to be a leader in history education, and to be a premier research institution.
